The S&S Story

S&S Property Management Inc. was founded in the winter of 1988 and in 1991 moved into their historic red brick home office in East Nashville where they began growing a successful real estate business. Thirteen years later, drawing from his previous experience in real estate development, co-founder Mark Sanders launched an ambitious project just blocks away that would become the Fatherland District and rejuvenate the community which has continued to expand to this day.

S&S has since gone on to manage a wide variety of multi-family projects; from high end luxury apartments to communities that participate in the Housing Choice Voucher Program. Their commitment to meeting and exceeding clients’ expectations has resulted in a strong portfolio of both multi-family communities and commercial development across Tennessee, Georgia, and Alabama. S&S works tirelessly to elevate the lifestyle of their residents and increase the value of the investments of the owners for whom they manage through thoughtfully designed apartment homes with high-quality features while also providing a home for an eclectic mix of independent businesses through their commercial properties.

Currently, S&S has expanded to employ more than 150 people and continues to grow with new acquisitions and development projects.

Mark holds the position of President and is 50% owner of S&S Property Management Inc. He is responsible for finance, property accounting, and property management. Mark co-founded S&S in December 1988. He directs the accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial affairs of the properties.

Prior to forming S&S, Mark was Vice President of Finance of a major property management company from September 1987 to December 1988. He was responsible for the financial operations of sixty apartment complexes. He was also directly responsible for cash management, lender relations, and development of company policies.

From September 1985 to September 1987, Mark was comptroller for developer McCalla Properties Inc. where he was responsible for all finance, accounting, tax, and property management. He developed lender relations, developed new project financial forecasts, established project budgets, and was responsible for reporting.

From September 1978 to August 1985, Mark was the accounting manager for Ryder Financial and Communication Services Inc. In this position, he was responsible for control and analysis of all accounting systems which interfaced with all levels of management.

Mark has a Master of Business Administration from The University of Tennessee and a Bachelor of Science with a major in accounting and a minor in computer science from the University of Alabama. He is a Tennessee licensed broker and has been a Certified Property Manager (CPM) since 1995.

Tammy holds the position of Vice President of Property Management for S&S Property Management Inc. She has been with S&S since 1995.

Tammy has been in the residential property management industry since 1993. She has extensive experience with regards to fair housing laws, Landlord-Tenant laws, HUD Rules & Regulations, Rural Development policies, Low Income Housing Tax Credit Compliance, and is a Certified Apartment Property Supervisor (CAPS). She also has the designations of Certified Property Manager (CPM), Specialist in Housing Credit Management (SHCM), and Housing Credit Certified Professional (HCCP).

Tammy attended Austin Peay State University. She is a Tennessee licensed affiliate broker.

Derek Sanders
Vice President of Finance

Derek holds the position of Vice President of Finance for S&S Property Management Inc. He has been with S&S since 2010. He is responsible for overseeing accounting activities, acquisition opportunities, lender relations, and investor relations for the company.

Prior to joining S&S, Derek was an associate at Northshore Capital Advisors in Knoxville, TN, a company with operations in hedge fund investing, private equity, investment banking advisory services, and wealth management. While at Northshore from January 2008 to May 2010, he was responsible for analysis and financial modeling of merger and acquisition activity for the company, as well as client companies. He was additionally responsible for operational finance for private equity portfolio companies.

From June 2006 to December 2007, Derek was an associate at FirstBank where he worked in the real estate division. He was responsible for analysis of potential loans and managed the portfolio of loans made by the department.

Derek has two degrees from the University of Tennessee, a Bachelor of Science with a major in finance and a collateral in information management, as well as a Bachelor of Science with a major in marketing and a collateral in international business. Derek lives in Nashville with his wife and four children.

Rima Taylor
Controller

Rima holds the position of Controller for S&S Property Management Inc. She has been with S&S since 2012.

Working closely with the Vice President of Finance, she assumes a senior role in the overall management of the company's finance and accounting functions.

Born in Guayaquil, Ecuador, Rima speaks three languages; English, Spanish, and Arabic, and is also learning Turkish. Rima began her career with S&S as an assistant property manager and was soon promoted to property manager. In 2014, she joined the accounting department at the corporate office and was later promoted to operations analyst and finally to her current role in 2023.

Rima received her Associate of Science degree in finance from Nashville State, graduating summa cum laude. She also attained a degree in finance from Tennessee State University, again graduating summa cum laude and receiving a coveted Academic Merit and Academic Excellence Award. Rima is currently preparing to pursue her master's degree in finance.

Matt Sanders
Director of Asset Development

Matt holds the position of Director of Asset Development for S&S Property Management Inc. He has been with S&S since 2015.

Matt provides asset management services by monitoring the operational condition of the S&S portfolio of multi-family communities through periodic on-site inspections and ongoing review of management reports.

He received his Bachelor of Arts from Savannah College of Art and Design.

Kaitlyn Sullivan

Kaitlyn holds the position of the Director of Marketing and Training. She is a results-driven marketing strategist with over 10 years of experience in the multifamily and student housing sectors.

She is responsible for leveraging market insights, digital technologies, and creative approaches to enhance brand presence and optimize property performance. Kaitlyn has a Bachelor of Science from The University of Georgia.

Kortney Wattles
Operations Analyst

Kortney holds the position of Operations Analyst for S&S Property Management Inc. She has been with S&S since May 2023.

Originally from a suburb of DC called Falls Church, Virginia, she attended Lipscomb University for her undergraduate and graduate degrees. At Lipscomb, she obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a minor in Marketing, graduating summa cum laude in three years in 2022. She then obtained a Masters in Business Administration from Lipscomb's Fast-Track MBA program for recent graduates, and graduated in May 2023. She lives in Nashville with some of her best friends.

Jenni Maisel
IT Support Specialist

Jenni holds the position of I.T. Support Specialist for S&S Property Management Inc. She has been with S&S since 2018.

Jenni is responsible for setting up, maintaining, and repairing nearly all technological software and hardware at the company, along with cyber security.

Jenni began her career in I.T. in 2007 when she was an I.T. Specialist for the US Army. She began her career with S&S as a property manager before transitioning to her current role in I.T. where she specializes in coming up with unique solutions to benefit company efficiency and performance. She is extremely passionate about music and plays the bassoon and piano in multiple orchestras around Nashville.

Marsha Allen

Marsha holds the position of Accounting Bookkeeper for S&S Property Management Inc. She has been with S&S since 2004.

As part of the accounting department, she is responsible for managing various accounting, finance, and billing details.

Marsha also serves on the Board of Directors for the Springhouse Theater Company and is an active member of her local community theater program.

Vince holds the position of Staff Accountant for S&S Property Management Inc. He has been with S&S since 2022.

As part of the accounting department, he is responsible for managing various accounting, finance, and billing details.

Vince is originally from Nashville and has a BBA in Accounting from Middle Tennessee State University as well as an MBA in Accounting from the University of Phoenix. While at MTSU, he founded and managed a roller hockey league.

Tabitha holds the position of Director of Property Management for S&S Property Management Inc. She has been with S&S since 2008.

Tabitha began her career with S&S as a multi-site property manager and was promoted to her current role where she is responsible for overseeing operations, financials, and leasing for a total of 815 units within the Nashville area and provides guidance and supervision in the Chattanooga and Alabama markets. She also directly assists the Vice President of Property Management as needed.

Tabitha has the designations of Certified Property Manager (CPM) and Housing Credit Certified Professional (HCCP). She received her Bachelor of Science in business management from Austin Peay State University and is a Tennessee licensed affiliate broker.

Crystal holds the position of Regional Property Manager for S&S Property Management Inc. in the Greater Nashville Area. She has been with S&S since 2012.

Crystal began her career with S&S as a property manager and now she oversees several communities. Crystal also manages leasing and operations for the S&S commercial & retail properties, including the Fatherland District and Porter East.

Crystal is originally from Nashville and she has more than 20 years of experience in the property management industry. She is a Tennessee licensed affiliate broker.

Kristy holds the position of Regional Property Manager for S&S Property Management Inc. in Georgia. She has been with S&S since 2017.

Kristy is responsible for multiple properties in Atlanta, Macon, and Augusta and has more than 20 years of experience in the multi-family industry.

Over the course of her career, Kristy has supervised new construction as well as acquisitions. She is an Augusta native and enjoys spending time outdoors with her family.

Salina Feeley
Regional Property Manager

Salina oversees part of our Chattanooga portfolio. She has a degree in Marketing and Management and earned a Accredited Residential Manager (ARM) certificate in 2022. She started in the industry as a leasing consultant at nineteen and have been in the industry over seventeen years.

Salina have experience working in luxury living, 55+ communities, lease up of new constructions, low-income tax credit, and overseeing new acquisitions and renovations.

In her spare time, she enjoys shopping at thrift stores, fishing, and binge-watching Lord of The Rings. She is a mother of four and has a two-year-old grandson that keeps her active.
